Still alive

Hi everybody,

here I am still taking care of the house and cats. I will show you some pix of this soon. I also had my first exams... well I wasn't studying too hard for them, should be okay though.

For now some pix of better weather (I hope this will return for the weekend, as I plan to go to Hope and Whistler) Fingers crossed!

This was during a walk at our Burnaby Mountain Park

okay, this is during a rest ;-)

more than one home

Hi everybody,

I am in residence right now but spent the night in another house near SFU. I am doing catsitting there, so I virtually moved there. Just as I got somewhat home here... ;-)

But of course it has advantages, more space, dvd (which I haven't used yet), a fully equipped kitchen etc. Well it's a bit lonely but I can cope with it I think and can do things about it.

My picture story goes on later as I also had to switch computers.

Till then, have a good day

Warm again

Hi to the world,

yes I am sitting in my room after my late class and am glad to be warm again. It was quite cold during class (almost like in the "Zuchthaus" (Insider wissen bescheid...)). Well, I think summer is leaving us step by step. Yesterday it was rainy which destroyed my "touri-plans". But I went to the Vancouver Fringe Festival in the evening and enjoyed a nice meal and even a cocktail on Granville Island afterwards. So I was reconciled. :-D

Do you know that they don't know Caipirinha around?! Well, this gives you an idea of cocktail culture.

But there are some factors that can take you over this - here we go:

near Canada place, a cruising ship and a posing seagull

a seabus

a view from the lookout tower in the Habour Centre

okay let's improve weather a bit:

weekend and still nice weather

Guten Morgen,

this morning I called back home in Berlin and talked to my English friends who are visting Berlin at the moment. It was nice having them tell me the news from there like about weather. I hope they enjoy the rest of their stay in Berlin with my sis. :-)

Today I went to my prof.'s house, cause I will do some catsitting for her over the next days. Yes, students do this here for some of their prof.'s. Could never imagine this would happen in Germany, lol.

And yesterday I went to an exhibition in the Vancouver Art Gallery. It was all about European painters and artists, like Picasso, Monet, Dalí, van Gogh, Barlach etc. Before that classes again, of course and some studies on my own.

So some pix of our international boat cruise from last Friday?

we left with that view of Science World:

on our way on the False Creek:

oh well, gotta rush now, off to some tango dancing performance on campus, on tomorrow...

Mountains and sea

Hi there,

okay, I fixed my skype-mic problem. Hope for good!

Since yesterday I have a bit of a cold but that did not keep me from going into the sea at English Bay today. :-D I hope my throat won't be worse tomorrow because of that. Before that I had my history class again with the first quiz (a kind of test - a bit schoolish) and we spoke about Sokrates and Plato again. Interesting.

On the beach at first I was reading for my studies but the sea was calling me after a while. And from there I could see the mountain me and a friend climbed on Sunday. So on with the pix:

still naiv about the Grouse grind

Do you see the people? All mad climbing there...

at last

but look at this view...

our Burnaby Mountain, where SFU is located

and up there were those guys

I loved the mountain but I guess I am more for the sea and here you have the choice ;-)

more from our home mountain, the boat cruise and the city to come :-)

Pretty exhausted

Hi people,

well this mic problem is making me mad! Anyone in computers who could help me out there? My computer does not recognize the mic, though it did before. For some time last week it was back, now gone again. I asked a German guy but he does not seem to have another clue.

Well probably I have to interpretate my compi to anyone Canadian or French or whatever then...

I am also exhausted because I had my grad (graduate) course today about Policy Processes. That is a tough one because I know nothing about the Canadian system. Plus five hours deep talk on that in English. Oh, at least I can concentrate on German stuff in there, if I remember ;-)

But to the better, some more pix:

me at one orientation event at sfu

with some friends (Canadian and Swedish) and my SFU t-shirt during orientation

well the American football game was soo funny, maybe because I didn't have a clue what was going on

but even the Americans did not :-D

but as there were question about some (real Canadian) wild life... ;-)

starting with the mighty trees of British Columbia

and some bears

and those are the grizzlies, the dangerous one, though actually quite cute. ;-)

more about how I came to meet with those, climbing the mountain, being at the beach, the boat cruise and the beautifully located city to come

so stay tuned :-) And I would love to get a thought about the mic problem...
