I still want to show you the remaining pics I took in and near Montréal. By now I am already well in the new semester studying and teaching German, which is fun. It is quite demanding to explain everything in English but the students are really motivated and as you know I like to teach anyway. :-)
Last weekend we had a nice townhouse party with lots of great food and wine. Val had her late birthday party and people were speaking in at least 4 languages, some also able to speak some German next to French, Spanish and of course English as the safe habour. lol How international we were again. ;-) Well, my neighbour from the US is able to speak Arabic.
Okay on with the pix:
the name of the area
The church there, they are Catholic by the way.
Don't ask me what that means at the door of the church. lol
We know what that means, though.
Normally it's Arrêt throughout Québec. As far as I remember it is Stop in France as well, but I might be wrong. I should go and check some time soon. ;-) Or someone can let me know. Anyway, in Québec it is Arrêt on the Stop signs, which led Val's father to the statement that they are even more French there than in France. lol Well, I don't know about that... ;-)
They don't have any street names or house numbers in the reservation camp to prevent taxation. But they have their own police.
The peace keepers
And they can sell cigarettes without taxes, which is interesting for some Québécois and leads to this:
There is no French writing or flag from Québec. It's a federal area and very different from all the other parts I have seen. I hope you found the pics somehow interesting, I found the detour there very interesting. As well as I enjoyed the whole stay in Québec very much. :-D
